The UBC Bioimaging facility (BIF) provides equitable access to high-end advanced microscopy systems to researchers and trainees come from diverse research disciplines with different levels of microscopy experience. Our goal is to help each BIF user advance their microscopy skills, whether beginner or expert, and do excellent science.
We are committed to building an environment where respect, civility, diversity, opportunities and inclusion are valued (https://hr.ubc.ca/working-ubc/respectful-environment), and making a positive, supportive and safe space for everyone free of discrimination and harassment.
BIF staff are dedicated to sharing their expertise, supporting your research, tackling technical challenges, and achieving your research goals by training and providing imaging services. BIF provides collaborative space and opportunities for you to learn and connect to discuss imaging modalities and scientific challenges. Every sample is different, and each user’s needs are different, so feel free to ask questions and let us know how we can best help you. Every imaging project needs fine-tuning of the sample preparation and setting of imaging parameters. BIF staff is here to assist you with achieving your research goal.
We are situated on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) First Nation. We are grateful that all the resources are available to operate the facility, thus supporting research projects that would give back to the community.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact BIF research manager, Miki Fujita (bif.manager@ubc.ca) and BIF academic director, Prof. Lacey Samuels (annelacey.samuels@botany.ubc.ca).
