A chiral nematic liquid crystalline factoid formed by cellulose nanocrystals (left), ordered and disordered interface in a phase-separated dispersion of cellulose nanocrystals (middle), and multi-layered structures formed by vanadium pentoxide nanorods (right). Hitachi S4700 SEM was used.
